After entering the professional workforce, I believed I was doomed for a lifetime of boring office outfit ideas. But, I’m here to tell you it doesn’t have to be that way. These are some of my must-have fall office outfit essentials styled into one trendy office outfit idea.
If you’re anything like me, I feel my office day outfit sets me up for success and how I own the day. So I was fairly upset when I realized that I might be stuck with the traditional pencil skirt, boxy slacks, and button-ups for my foreseeable future.
But, a year later, working on the hill, I finally found my go-to trendy office outfit essentials. As a busy career woman myself, I think these items are a must-have.
Add these pieces to your fall office outfit wardrobe, and you’ll always look put together and fashion-forward!
This post is all about trendy must-have fall office outfit ideas.
Office Outfit Essential No.1: The Oxford
The traditional oxford-style shoe is my first office outfit essential. Why? Well, this shoe can be used formally as I did for this office outfit idea, OR it can easily transition into a business casual outfit with a pair of jeans. Either way, this shoe is seen as “classy” and has a longstanding history of being a “formal” looking shoe. Adding this to your office outfit wardrobe is a must if you were to choose just one. If I could recommend any shoe for the fall months–it’d be the oxford.
This particular one I’m wearing is from WAL-MART by Time & True. Yes, you read that right. This particular pair was under $30. Keep an eye out this fall for similar oxford style shoes!
Office Outfit Essential No.2: The Checked Pant
The next essential is the checked pant. It’s timeless and, therefore, a good investment for your office outfit wardrobe. If you purchase a well-fitting pant in a trendy style, you’ll be set. Half of looking well dressed is buying flattering items themselves. This style is a high waist straight-legged slim checked pant in a wool blend material–perfect for the fall weather! I spent $20 on this particular pair from SHEIN. Unfortunately, this item is from last season and is completely SOLD OUT. They have plenty of other options, though, and are worth checking for affordability.
Office Outfit Essential No. 3: The Trenchcoat
Last but certainly not least–the trenchcoat. I’m listing this as the last main office outfit essential because it’s an investment piece. I won’t mince words with you; a sleek and well-made trenchcoat will be pricey but worth it. It’s a staple of any professional’s wardrobe and will continue to be for its timeless appeal. I recommend a neutral color so it can pair with all your fall office outfits. You’ll instantly look coordinated with this office outfit essential. The one I’m wearing is from Express.
Honorable mention: The Sunglasses
Don’t forget your pair of statement sunglasses to tie it altogether just about you head out the door. Something about it, but running to the train station with a bold pair of sunglasses never fails to illustrate you mean business.
And, that’s it for now! I hope you enjoyed this classic take on a fall office outfit idea!
